My Favorite Breakfast Bowl
Written on June 21, 2026
The breakfast bowl I make every morning alongside my Americano and how a few simple changes helped support my nutrition goals.
Every morning starts with two things: an Americano and this breakfast bowl.
The Americano has become a ritual of its own, and I shared that process in a previous post. This bowl is its companion. It is simple, quick to prepare, and provides a solid nutritional foundation for the day.
Since beginning my health and fitness journey in March 2025, breakfast has evolved several times. What started as a basic bowl of cottage cheese gradually became something more intentional. Today, this is my favorite version, and it is the one I make every morning.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (226 g) Good Culture 2% Cottage Cheese
- 2 tablespoons Blueprint Snake Oil Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 2 tablespoons KIND Healthy Grains Oats & Honey Granola
- ½ cup fresh blueberries
Preparation
- Add one cup of cottage cheese to a bowl.
- Drizzle the olive oil over the cottage cheese.
- Sprinkle the granola across the top.
- Finish with the blueberries.
- Enjoy alongside a freshly prepared Americano.
That is it. No cooking, no complicated preparation, and only a few minutes from refrigerator to table.
Why I Switched Cottage Cheese
When I began this breakfast routine in March 2025, I used a cottage cheese option from Aldi. It was convenient, reasonably priced, and worked well enough as the foundation for my morning bowl.
Later, I discovered the Yuka App through wellness coach Abbey Daw. Yuka allows users to scan food products and evaluate ingredient quality, additives, and nutritional considerations.
Curious about some of the foods I was eating regularly, I started scanning products around my kitchen. My usual cottage cheese received a lower score than I expected due to several additives and stabilizers. Yuka also suggested alternative products with simpler ingredient lists and better ratings.
One of those recommendations was Good Culture Cottage Cheese.
Finding it took a little effort since it was not available at my usual grocery stop, but I eventually found it at Publix and decided to give it a try.
The switch stuck.
Good Culture has a short ingredient list, an excellent texture, and a clean flavor that works perfectly in this bowl. It has become one of those small changes that feels easy to maintain because the product itself is genuinely enjoyable.
Doubling the Protein
As my training progressed, I made one additional adjustment.
Originally, I used a single serving of cottage cheese. To make it easier to reach my daily protein targets, I doubled the portion to two servings, bringing the bowl to a full cup of cottage cheese.
That simple change significantly increased the protein content of breakfast without adding preparation time or complexity. Sometimes the most effective improvements are the simplest ones.

Closing Thoughts
There is nothing complicated about this breakfast.
That is part of its appeal.
Most mornings begin before sunrise. While my Americano is brewing, I prepare this bowl, sit down, and take a few quiet moments before the day begins in earnest.
The recipe may continue to evolve over time, but for now this version feels just right. It tastes good, supports my training goals, and has become a dependable part of my morning routine.
Sometimes the best meals are not the most elaborate ones. They are simply the meals you look forward to making every day.
