I have loved this Belkin unit for a travel kit since it came out in 2008. Guess what? It can charge your new iPad just fine.

Really? Would really like to know how you got this to work as when using the USB, the iPad says "Not Charging"

Works fine for me. Sometimes it glitches a little if another device is also plugged in. But works every time when just the ipad and almost every time when my ipod or iphone is also plugged in. My belkin is original generation from when they first came out.

Yes of course it shows the unit is charging. =) I would not have posted this if it did not.It does charge with screen active and without. Good question about the port. I Just checked both and both work.
